The kitchen we inherited has vinyl wrapped cabinet doors and the vinyl has come off in a couple of places due to heat from the adjacent cooker and water absorption from a leak.

However this problem may be overcome by installing heat shields. Painting vinyl laminate cabinets in contrast is a cheap and cheerful way to rejuvenate tired kitchen cabinets.
